During this time, he led several surgical teams to Belize (with the Sisters of Mercy Hospital), partnering with local doctors to repair cleft lip deformities. - [Robert Baxter Meek, III](https://aaentmd.com/otolaryngologist-robert-baxter-meek/): Dr. Robert B. Meek, III, is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and a member of the American Rhinologic Society. He graduated Cum Laude from Wake Forest University and studied medicine at the West Virginia School of Medicine where he completed a residency in Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. He went on to become an assistant professor at the University of Virginia, where he also studied and worked on research of voice and swallowing disorders, including how reflux affects voice and swallowing. One of Dr. Meek’s major focuses is to the dedication to management of diseases of the nose, sinuses, and skull base. He brings two decades of experience to diagnosing and treating adults and children with a wide range of conditions, ranging from common allergies and sinusitis to cancer. He has expertise with difficult to manage cases of sinusitis, revision sinus surgery, and surgical treatment of sino-nasal tumors. Dr. Meek treats patients with problems located in the larynx or esophagus which includes hoarseness and/or voice disturbances, dysphagia, or breathing difficulties due to airway stenosis or scarring. His laryngology interests include vocal performance and treatment of the aging voice.. He is one of the few physicians in the area who can perform local vocal cord injections in the office to treat vocal cord paralysis, presbylarynx, and refractory chronic cough when due to aspiration.
